With Washington, DC roots, a classical education and a big heart, Joy’s often cast on-camera and onstage as smart, resilient characters with a plan - or a quip - to make things better: artists, detectives, Shakespearean queens, etc. Visit Joy's Media for clips or check out Production Photos of her favorite on-camera and theatre credits: DC Noir (Pictureshow Productions), You Wear It Well (Charm City), Disgraced (Virginia Stage), The Champion (TheatreSquared - World Premiere - Lead Role), et al.
This lovely lady's a member of SAG-AFTRA and AEA, has an Acting MFA from UNC-Chapel Hill and classical training from the British American Drama Academy; she studied voice with David Jones and Kenneth Khamal Scott.
When not performing determined, professional types, Joy's exploring her crunchy side: she's a tree-adopter, trained recycler and former freegan who can juggle and make her own lip balm, though she has never attempted to combine these passions.
2019 - TV PILOT: Joy co-stars in the pilot of Little America, a half-hour anthology series from Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon, the Oscar-nominated writers of indie hit The Big Sick, and Universal Television. The series is the Apple's first offering on its new streaming platform, Apple TV.
